Message from the Committee 17/9/2003

Welcome back to another season with West Kirby Wasps, we have now reached the dizzy heights of the U9's.

We have again entered the Ellesmere Port league as we feel this is the strongest. Matches are always very competitive and provide a challenge to our boys. The difference this year is that we have entered two teams and for some the opposition will be much stronger than they are used to.

The aim this year is to keep going with a smile on our face, even if the going becomes a little tough, to always give 100% to the end of every
match and in every training session.

If we all keep working hard over the next couple of years we should have a solid team for when we eventually become the U11's.

This year we have, for the first time, been sponsored by Simon Nielson who owns Newsmag the Newsagents. He has three shops, the nearest being in Albert Road by Hoylake railway station. The other two are in Heswall and Irby.

We are extremely grateful to Simon for his generosity. We know that all the boys were delighted and some arrived down to breakfast already
dressed for their first match in their new kit some four hours in advance!

Simon managed to snatch a few minutes away from his busy schedule to meet some of the boys and team captain Dan Jones, (pictured with Simon) thanked him on behalf of our entire squad.

If anyone is passing any of the Newsmag shops please pop in and if Simon is in that particular shop he would love you to say hello. Perhaps you could buy a few sweets or a magazine as a thank you.

We are also very grateful to J&A Electrical who kindly donated enough money to buy all the boys matching socks. We really do now look the part.

Sorry to disappoint the veterans (for those who have not visited their page it is worth doing so, even if just to take a peak at the latest models from the Paris catwalk!). The veterans have also purchased the same kit and have stated they are unavailable to the boys. Sorry but you don't have to be over the hill to wear one of these shirts, and at least all our boys are still agile with young legs that don't creak at the knees, and more importantly are all still sporting their own hair and teeth (only joking of course!)

Finally, on behalf of the U9's good luck to all the other age groups for the season.
